We’re excited to welcome Ash Baldwin as a new PhD student joining the CMP group. Ash’s research focuses on modelling the role of strong quantum correlation and coupling effects in ultrafast, light-driven surface dynamics. Her current work explores how Pauli repulsion and local Coulomb interactions influence hydrogen scattering from metal surfaces, using mixed quantum-classical dynamics and DFT-parameterised lattice Hamiltonians.
Ash holds an MSci in Theoretical Physics from the University of Bristol and is now pursuing her PhD at the University of Vienna under the supervision of Prof. Reinhard Maurer. Her broader interests include non-adiabatic dynamics, tensor network methods, and high-performance computing for quantum systems.
