Lorenzo Celiberti and Cesare Franchini have published a paper on spin-orbit polaron in Nature Communications

Spin-orbital Jahn-Teller bipolarons

A collaborative effort led by Lorenzo Celiberti and Cesare Franchini, in collaboration with the University of Bologna, the University of Parma, the Collège de France, Brown University, and Ohio State University, has yielded a significant breakthrough: the discovery of a novel type of polaronic quasiparticle.

This groundbreaking finding sheds light on the intricate interactions within spin-orbit coupled transition metal oxides and opens up new avenues for exploration in the field.
Published in the Nature Communications journal, the study investigates the entanglement of Spin-Orbit, Jahn-Teller, and polaronic effects in complex oxides.
These findings have the potential to steer research in diverse directions, ranging from polaron spintronics to polaron heavy-element catalysis and polaron multipolar magnetism.
